Recently one of my friends bought a Dell laptop with Windows 7 preinstalled. He also bought a 3G based high speed data card. We just thought if we can share the same internet connection. Basically we are living in a same building so Wi-Fi seemed to be a good option to share the internet connection.
I did searching on Google around this and got to know about “Connectify”. “Connectify” is a free Windows 7 application which turns your Wi-Fi enabled personal computer into a wireless router and allows you to share your Internet connection with your friends and colleagues.
The best thing about Connectify is, you don’t need to buy any physical devices for that, just install Connectify and configure. It will turn your personal computer into a virtual Wi-Fi Router. All your friends and colleagues within the Wi-Fi range can connect to this virtual Wi-Fi network using a Wi-Fi enabled computer or any other Wi-Fi enabled devices and they don’t need to install Connectify on their computer/device.
You can download it from Connectify Official Site or CNet Download
See the below video which explains step by step to configure Connectify on your Windows 7 Laptop:

Virtual Router is an another application similar to Connectify which is released as beta. This program aslo makes use of the virtual Wifi options in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. The program’s interface contains only a few options. The Start Virtual Router button being the most important. This button is only active if the computer uses a supported wireless adapter. Other options include changing the network name, password (recommended as the default password is always the same). Virtual Router uses WPA2 Encryption to provide a solid protection for the wireless network.
Virtual Router can be downloaded from the CodePlex(http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com). It is only compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 and requires a compatible wireless adapter.
